SquawkX Privacy Policy
Overview
SquawkX is a pilot study and ATC readback practice app. This policy explains how SquawkX uses data to provide account sync, study progress, audio recording, transcription, feedback, optional reminders, subscriptions, and ads for non-subscribers.
Data We Collect
SquawkX may process:
- Account information, such as email address and authentication identifiers.
- Study profile settings, quiz sessions, answers, review progress, streaks, XP, and Daily Flight Plan completion.
- ATC practice audio recordings, transcripts, edited transcripts, readback feedback, and scoring metadata when you choose to record a response.
- Device notification permission state and local reminder preferences.
- Subscription entitlement, purchase status, and advertising-related device, usage, and diagnostics information needed to provide subscriptions and non-personalized banner ads.
- Basic technical information needed to operate the app and diagnose failures.
How We Use Data
We use this data to sign users in, sync study progress, generate and update Daily Flight Plans, track quiz and review progress, upload ATC recordings for transcription and feedback, show transcript review, schedule optional local streak reminders, provide subscription access, show non-personalized banner ads to non-subscribers, and improve app reliability.
Third-Party Services
SquawkX uses Supabase for authentication, database storage, edge functions, and storage. SquawkX may use OpenAI API for ATC audio transcription when a recorded response is processed. SquawkX also uses RevenueCat and Apple platform services for subscription entitlement and in-app purchase support. SquawkX uses Google AdMob to show non-personalized banner ads to non-subscribers. SquawkX also uses Expo services for app runtime, builds, and notification-related app support, plus Apple and Google platform services for app distribution and operating-system permissions.
Audio Recordings
The app requests microphone permission for ATC readback practice. Recordings are used only when you start an ATC response flow. Recordings may be uploaded to process transcription and readback feedback. If recording or upload fails, the app may offer a manual transcript fallback.
Notifications
Notifications are optional. SquawkX may schedule local streak reminder alerts only after you enable the reminder flow and grant device permission.
Data Retention
Study progress and account data are retained while your account is active. Uploaded ATC practice audio and transcripts are retained while the account is active so SquawkX can support review, transcript display, feedback, and app reliability.
User Choices
You can decline microphone permission, decline notification permission, sign out of the app, and request account deletion from Profile > File Drawer > Request account deletion. You can subscribe to remove ads. SquawkX requests non-personalized banner ads when ads are enabled for a non-subscribed account.
Deleting an account removes the SquawkX account record and associated personal data, including synced study progress and ATC practice artifacts, unless retention is legally required. SquawkX reviews and completes deletion requests within 7 days and will keep you informed through the account email when available.
Children
SquawkX is designed for pilot training and aviation study. It is not directed to children under 13.
